Townshend Performance is a family-run coaching team based in Keswick, in the heart of the Lake District. Led by GB international Brennan Townshend and coach Kat Townshend, we specialise in road, fell, trail and mountain running for athletes of all levels.
Through personalised, science-led training and strength work tailored to elevation and terrain, we help you train smarter, run stronger and perform at your best.

Brennan Townshend

With over twelve years of coaching experience, Brennan helps endurance athletes perform at their highest level through structured, evidence-based training. From ambitious amateurs to competitive racers, his plans are built with precision, purpose and attention to detail.
A two-time Three Peaks winner and UK Skyrunning Champion, Brennan has represented Great Britain at World and European level.
His coaching blends real-world racing insight with academic expertise, supported by UK Athletics and UESCA qualifications and ongoing study in Sport and Exercise Science.

Kat Townshend
Strength. Resilience. Personal Support.
Kat is a fully qualified UK Athletics Fell and Mountain Running Leader, UK Athletics Level 2 Coach, UESCA Running Coach, and Level 2 Personal Trainer, bringing nearly seven years of coaching experience to runners of all abilities.
She guides athletes with personalised support, structure and accountability — helping them build confidence, strength and mental resilience. Her focus is not just on race-day performance, but on creating strong, capable runners for the long term.
As a competitive trail and fell runner with multiple podium finishes, and a former high-altitude mountaineer, Kat understands endurance from every angle. Her coaching blends technical expertise, real-world experience and a deep belief in what runners are capable of achieving.
